This is a short, curated list of free training resources selected for public sector professionals. Every course here is worth your time. Resources are organised into two levels. Beginner covers the foundations: what AI is, how it works, and how to use it responsibly. Practitioner goes further, focusing on applied use, governance, and the policy context.
AI Fundamentals for Public Servants
This self-paced course includes lectures and educational content from Stanford faculty, instructors, and fellows at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence that will help you understand the opportunities and impact of AI in government. You’ll also find insights from Apolitical and our network of public servants.
Understand How AI Impacts You and Your Government
In this free introductory course, you’ll discover that you don’t need to be a tech expert to understand how AI impacts you and your work. You’ll learn that AI is not as scary or even as ‘intelligent’ as you first thought, and – as you start exploring potential solutions to old problems – you’ll build the confidence to share what you have learned with your colleagues along the way.
